This tour takes you via Eastern Halychyna, Podillia, and Bukovyna with a one-day trip to Rumania. Each of these regions is rich in their own history, poetry and way of life.
The Carpathian mountains made their impression on Halychyna. Changing history left its legacy here, and granted this land its own unique face.
The unofficial capital of Western Ukraine, Lviv (Lamberg), is the heart of Eastern Halychyna since Middle Ages. It is full of dignity and bustling life. With its Western European orientation, it boasts a multilingual, multinational, multiconfessional atmosphere, which is next to impossible to describe.
Podillia, from Ukrainian “po dolu“, i.e. land under one’s feet, lies in the feet of the mountains, and is famous for its cozy towns and villages. The most renowned is the city of Kamianets-Podilsky, one of the most picturesque places in Ukraine. Remarkable location, a Medieval fortress, Polish cathedrals, Orthodox churches, former minaret, and the Southern style of Armenian quarters bestow the city with a special charisma. The next most famous place in Podillia is the town of Khotyn. It prides itself on the 12th century fortress with defensive works, which used to be the stage of legendary battles of the united Slavic forces against the Ottoman Empire.
